Day 4: Risnjak NP Hiking

On our way to the Istrian Peninsula today, we will make a stop at Risnjak National Park. The Risnjak mountain massif is part of the Dinaric Alps, consisting of several mountain peaks blessed with rich plant and animal life. The mountain is named after the lynx, which inhabits its forests. The Kupa River, one of the cleanest rivers in Croatia, originates under Risnjak. From the summit of Veliki Risnjak, which stands at 1528 meters above sea level, you'll have an unforgettable view of the Kvarner Bay, Istria, and the Julian Alps in Slovenia. Depending on the group's preferences, we will choose to visit the romantic source of the Kupa River or take the shortest hiking route to Veliki Risnjak.

After the excursion, we will drive to our base for the remainder of this journey, the small picturesque village of Manjadvorci, where the family-owned Camp Dvor is located along with their exclusive Villa Cavallina. A few minutes' walk from the camp is their ranch, where you can enjoy interaction with horses or optional horseback riding.

In the evening, we will have a yoga session in the peaceful nature of the camp.

Day 6: Cycling on Parenzana Old Railroad

The indigenous people of Istria still remember the legendary Parenzana railway, which, from 1902 to 1935, was a crucial transportation route for the agricultural products of northwest Istria. Though out of operation for many decades, Parenzana has become a popular cycling and excursion route attracting visitors from all over the world.

We will start our cycling route along Parenzana in the charming town of Groznjan, a town of artists and music perched on a hill with views of the surrounding valleys, forests, and vineyards. You will have the opportunity to stroll within the town's walls and explore one of the many art galleries. We'll hop on our bikes and head towards the next town, Oprtalj, passing through old tunnels and enjoying views of the Mirna River valley and the beautiful countryside. Our destination is Livade, where we will rest and have the opportunity to purchase truffle products.

Morning and evening yoga will be held in Manjadvorci.

Beach and swimming are an essential part of our summer stay in Istria. Today, we explore the town of Premantura and Cape Kamenjak, the southernmost point of the Istrian Peninsula and a place of unreal beauty, protected as a significant landscape. Over medicinal sage meadows, garigue, and maquis to black oak and Aleppo pine forests, this area reveals unforgettable vistas. The Kamenjak coast is composed of numerous coves, islets, and beaches. It is mainly rocky, with flat rocks perfect for sunbathing in the summer and high cliffs that will delight those who enjoy cliff diving.

On the way back from Premantura, we will visit the family farm Stancija Kumparička in Krnica on the eastern side of the Istrian Peninsula, where 250 goats graze on 200 hectares of organic pastures. Kumparička offers high-quality goat cheese and homemade products that we will definitely taste.

FOOD

Croatian cuisine is heterogeneous and is known as a cuisine of the regions, since every region has its own distinct culinary tradition. Since we are visiting different regions during this yoga adventure, you will get the chance to experience the great diversity of local specialties, tastes and flavors.

In continental regions meat dishes are dominant, accompanied by potatoes, other root veggies and lots of cabbage. Mediterranean areas focus more on fish, green veggies, olive oil and Mediterranean herb seasonings like rosemary, sage and oregano.

Excellent cheese and charcuterie are a part of the Croatian culinary tradition in all regions.

Blessed with a perfect climate, Croatians also nurture a long tradition of wine and olive oil making, focusing on quality over quantity. Dipping your bread in exceptional virgin olive oils and trying the long-established local types of wine will definitely be a part of your culinary experience.

Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and all other dietary requirements can be accommodated, just let us know upon booking.

ACCOMMODATION

We will be staying in charming accommodations perfectly located for our activities. We will be sending the Final bulletin with exact hotel/campsite names and addresses 1 month prior to departure.
