Lopud Island is the smallest of all Elaphiti Islands with a rich history and outstanding natural beauty. It is easily accessible by boat (1 hour ride from Dubrovnik port). The main attraction of Lopud is that no cars are allowed so there is no traffic and pollution. The water is crystal clear and very safe with no waves or currents, especially at Sunj beach where it is shallow for several meters. There are many well maintained cycling, walking and trekking paths on the island offering guests an ideal location for an active vacation.

Our yoga venue is an over 400 year old stone villa,  located in an elevated position in a quiet area of the old Lopud close to the Monastery and the Rector's palace. It offers panoramic views over the sea and the mountains and it's about 2 to 3 minutes walk from the sea front.

The yoga program will be held in German by Stefanie Schiele-Grahl, a teacher from Germany that prepared a rich program of Ashtanga Yoga Primary series, Meditation and Philosophy for you to unwind and dive deep into the peaceful island atmosphere.

The retreat is suitable for beginners and those who are not familiar with Ashtanga Yoga practice.

There are 7 bedrooms located over 3 floors and one  living area/lounge on the first floor with a fully equipped kitchen area. On the ground floor there is a fully equipped summer kitchen with lounge and dining area. Shaded patio on the top floor and the pool  terrace on the ground floor are equipped with sun loungers, barbecue area and outside eating area under a shaded pergola.

At night the light sensors automatically switch on the subtle outside lights, lighting up the villa, the patio area and the pool providing a wonderful outside space for you to enjoy.

One of the two sandy beaches is only 3 minutes down from the villa near the harbour and the shops and restaurants.

The villa has been recently renovated, it's fully air conditioned and suited for 12 to 14 people. It can be enjoyed from April to October, each season offering something new..

The light is wonderful in April and in October ideal for painting and photography, walking and trekking. The sea changes colour in different light from aqua to cobalt blue and the rich greenery and high hills, covered in spring flowers offer a lovely, scenic back drop.

The orange blossom flowers fragrant the air offering a lovely ambiance on the terrace in April and May.

The walled garden offers a private area for sunbathing, swimming, yoga, painting, cooking or just simply sitting around chilling and chatting.

The heated pool at villa can be enjoyed all year round. It has a hydrotherapy massage and spa jets for your spa treatment after a brisk walk or a yoga session. Enjoy a sauna and a power shower afterwards and then relax over a fresh drink while watching the sun set over Sipan island opposite.

Stefanie Schiele-Grahl (Yoga Teacher, theater- and relaxation pedagogue, social worker).

Stefanie practices Yoga since 2002. After several yoga trainings from 2005 (RYT-500) in the traditions of Iyengar, Sivananda and Kundalini Yoga, as well as to the state-approved yoga teacher training AYA for Ashtanga Yoga (1450 hours, ayw, Cologne), her enthusiasm and deep respect for the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga led her to Mysore/India to her constant teacher and loving Guru Saraswathi Jois (daughter of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois). During her annual stays in India for almost a decade, Stefanie has been continuously developing and deepening her knowledge and experience in Yoga.

Stefanie is teaching yoga all year round and full-time, with a weekly class size of 18-20 lessons in her two yoga schools, together with her husband, in the heart of the Ruhr area (Duisburg and Mülheim). For Stefanie āsana is only a small part of the healing power of Yoga and so besides āsana in her classes there are also the elements of bhakti, karma and jñāna Yoga in the form of Chanting, japa, pūjā, Meditation and a sattvic way of life. Her greatest priority is to create a protected space where self-healing is possible. A space to deepen your practice and understanding of yourself, the connection to your breath, body, mind and soul to develop a calm and true way of life.
