A dedicated home for holistic retreats in the Tuscan hills
Il Risveglio — "The Awakening" — is a restored early-1900s farmhouse set on 40 hectares of woods, olive groves and hills in the Maremma countryside, about 30 km from the Tuscan coast. Since 2017, David, Irene and their daughter Melissa have run it as a space dedicated entirely to holistic, art and music groups — guests rather than customers, welcomed into what they call their family home.
Green Yogi Traveler is a licensed Croatian travel agency — when you bring your group here, we handle the accommodation, transfers, meals and day-to-day logistics, so you can focus on your retreat.

Rustic bedrooms & shared spaces
Il Risveglio has 8 bedrooms across the main farmhouse's two floors and a separate cottage, sleeping 17 (up to 19) — bright, comfortable and furnished in a rustic style with handcrafted, restored vintage pieces, each room named after a Tuscan herb or wildflower.
Yoga hall & outdoor practice
Practice happens in a dedicated 70 m² hall with a vaulted wood-beamed ceiling, heated year-round and laid out with cushions, mats and blankets for up to 20 people. When the Tuscan weather allows, the group moves outside — onto a tiled terrace looking over the hills, a shaded lawn beneath ancient oaks, or straight into the olive grove.
Common areas
The main house holds a large communal lounge with a fireplace and free WiFi, and an open dining room where the group gathers for meals. A separate cottage — once the estate's stable — has its own loft, private WiFi and outdoor patio, for groups who'd like a little more separation.
Maremma & the Tuscan hills
Il Risveglio sits in the Maremma — Tuscany's wildest, least-crowded corner — about 12 km from Grosseto and 30 km from the coast. Beyond the farmhouse's own 40 hectares of trails, the surrounding area holds thermal springs, medieval hill towns, quiet beaches and some of Italy's most significant spiritual sites.
Saturnia thermal baths
Natural limestone pools fed by 37°C sulphur springs, cascading through travertine terraces near the village of Saturnia — one of Tuscany's most striking natural spas, and free to visit.
Castiglione della Pescaia
A medieval castle town on the coast, about 30 km away, with a working fishing harbour, sandy beaches and a seafront promenade below its stone walls.
Tuscany's hilltop towns
The Maremma countryside is scattered with walled medieval towns and vineyards, easily reached for an afternoon away from the retreat.
Nearby spiritual sites
For groups who want to build a visit into their retreat itinerary — Il Risveglio sits within reach of several of Tuscany's most significant sacred sites.
- San Galgano Abbey & the sword in the stone
- Sant'Antimo Abbey, Romanesque & Gregorian chant
- Mount Amiata's sacred beech forest
- Merigar, Europe's largest Tibetan Dzogchen centre
- San Rabano Abbey in the Uccellina mountains
- Siloe Monastery, eco-sustainable Benedictine community
Organic Tuscan cuisine, buffet-style
Meals are a rich, varied buffet built from fresh, whole, seasonal and local ingredients — the chef blends traditional Maremma and Tuscan cooking with subtle oriental touches. In summer, the group eats together under the pergola, with the Maremma breeze and hill views.
The center also runs its own organic shop on site, and can arrange guided foraging walks in spring and autumn to gather wild edible plants from the grounds.
